How to Prepare Your Home for a Kitchen Renovation

A kitchen renovation is disruptive. Proper preparation makes the process smoother. Here is what to do before we start.

Set Up a Temporary Kitchen

You will need access to a kettle, microwave, fridge, and basic utensils for 2-4 weeks. Set up a temporary kitchen in your dining room or garage. A camping stove or slow cooker will be your best friend.

Clear the Area

Remove everything from your kitchen – food, dishes, cookware, appliances. The more you clear, the faster we can work. We protect your floors and adjacent rooms, but dust still travels.

Protect Adjoining Rooms

Close doors to adjoining rooms. Cover furniture with dust sheets. Remove rugs from hallways near the kitchen. We will seal off the work area, but extra protection helps.

Plan Your Meals

Plan for 2-4 weeks of simple meals. Freeze meals in advance. Consider takeout a few nights a week. The disruption is temporary – the result lasts 20+ years.

Communicate Your Schedule

Tell us your schedule – when you need the kitchen back, any events or deadlines. We plan our work around your needs. Clear communication is the key to a stress-free renovation.
